Bruno Heller (* 1960 ) is an English screenwriter . His most famous works are the television series Rome and The Mentalist .

life and career

Heller was born in London and grew up there with three siblings, including Zoë Heller . His parents are Lukas Heller and Caroline Carter . Heller graduated from the University of Sussex in Brighton and worked for a number of years in various film jobs until he finally became a sound assistant.

He made his screenwriting debut with the 1994 Portuguese film PAX . Heller moved to Los Angeles in 1997 and then began working on two television projects for the USA Network network - Touching Evil and The Huntress . He then worked as a co-creator on the television series Rome on the HBO television channel . From 2008 to 2015 Heller worked on the series The Mentalist, which he created for the television station CBS . In 2014 he developed the Fox crime series Gotham , which is set in the Batman universe and is about the beginnings of James Gordon at the Gotham City Police Department and the career of later Batman opponents such as the young Bruce Wayne.

In 1993, Heller married Miranda Phillips Cowley , the former vice president of the cable company HBO . They have two sons together and live in Los Angeles .
