Bruno Markwardt

Bruno Markwardt (born April 19, 1899 in Göhren , Rügen , † March 17, 1972 in Stralsund ) was a German specialist in German .

Life

After schooling studied Markwardt German at the University of Greifswald , where he completed this study in 1922 with the promotion of Dr. phil. with a dissertation on Johann Gottfried Herder's "Critical Forests": A contribution to the art and worldview of the young Herder . After completing his habilitation , he accepted a professorship for German studies at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald, where he taught at the Institute for German Philology from 1952 until his retirement in 1966.

In addition to his teaching activities, he not only edited publications on Johann Gottfried Herder , Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and Heinrich von Kleist , but also in particular a five-volume history of German poetics , which he began with a first volume in 1937 and whose fifth volume appeared in 1967.

On the occasion of his sixtieth birthday of one appeared in 1961 Gustav Erdmann (1930-1994) and Alfonso Eichstaedt published Festschrift with, among other posts about John sleep and its drama Master Oelze .
