Bruno Masure (born October 14, 1947 in Lille ) is a French journalist , news anchor and writer .

Childhood and youth

Masure attended the Saint-Pierre Catholic School in Lille. He studied at the École supérieure de journalisme de Lille and has degrees in history, economics, politics and urban planning.

Professional activities

After working at the law faculty of the University of Lille II , he completed an internship at the national daily newspaper Le Monde . From 1973 he worked as a journalist in the political department of the radio station Radio Monte Carlo (RMC). In 1975 he switched to the then public television program TF1 as a reporter . In this role he accompanied François Mitterrand's election campaign for the French presidency in 1981 .

From 1984 to 1987 Masure was weekdays spokesman for the 8 p.m. news Journal de 20 heures of TF1. Between 1987 and 1990 he presented the TF1 news at 1pm and 8pm on the weekends. On November 10, 1989, he directed a special program on the opening of the Berlin Wall , which was also broadcast in Berlin on the FFB channel.

From 1990 onwards Masure presented the corresponding news program Journal de 20 heures of the broadcaster Antenne 2, which remained under public law (since 1992: France 2 ), where he alternated weekly with Daniel Bilalian from 1995 onwards . On October 2, 1995, he appeared there for the last time as a newscaster.

Masure was also involved in other programs. From 1993 he led the De quoi j'ai l'air? who presented short reports as well as skits; he was also the co-host of numerous election programs. From 1999 to 2003 he was one of the editors of Michel Drucker's Sunday evening advance broadcast Vivement dimanche prochain on France 2.

Since 1987 Masure has published books that dealt in particular with the world of media. From 2005 to 2011 he was a journalist and editor of the program Le Fou du roi on the national radio program France Inter .

Private life

Bruno Masure is an atheist and openly acknowledges his bisexuality . He lives separately from his wife Cathy, but is still close friends with her.

The childless cat lover lives in the 12th arrondissement of Paris .

Awards

In 1988, 1990, 1993, 1995 and 1998 Masure received the 7 d'or television award for best French television news presenter.
