Bruno Potthast

Bruno Potthast (born May 25, 1887 in Lügde , † October 20, 1967 in Cologne ) was a German lawyer and local politician ( CDU ).

Life

Bruno Potthast, son from a doctor's household, studied in Munich and Göttingen , where he was a member of the Catholic student association WkSt.V. Unitas-Göttingen was. After graduation, he worked as a law and tax attorney in Cologne. He was a member of the supervisory boards of numerous commercial enterprises in post-war Germany, including as chairman of the supervisory boards of Bielefelder Papier- und Wellpappenwerke E. Sprick AG, Cornelius Stüssgen AG , JW Zanders Feinpapier GmbH , Excelsior Hotel Ernst and Vereinigte Ultramarinfabriken AG . He was the deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the Kölner Vulkan AG and the Gladbacher Wollindustrie AG as well as a member of the supervisory board of the Westdeutsche Kaufhof AG . He was the general agent of the Sal. Oppenheim & Cie bank in Cologne. From 1917 to 1920 he worked as a consultant in the Reich Treasury in Berlin.

In 1945 he was co-founder and first chairman of the CDP / CDU Cologne with Leo Schwering and others.

In 1954 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali and invested in the St. Andrew's Basilica in Cologne on December 8, 1954 by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy ; most recently in the rank of grand officer.

Since 1915 he was married to Hilde Weimann (1893–1968); The marriage resulted in four children, including Bernd Potthast .

He is buried in the family grave in Cologne's southern cemetery (hall 22).
