In the Nor-Am Cup , with a total of five victories, she won the downhill and the Super-G classification once; in the World Cup she was among the top ten in two runs.
biography
McCarty contested her first FIS race in December 1998 . In February 1999 she took part in a race in the Nor-Am Cup for the first time and won her first points. After that she started again mainly in FIS races, where she celebrated her first victory in March 2000. From the 2000/01 season McCarty started regularly in the Nor-Am Cup and drove in February 2001 for the first time among the top ten. Her breakthrough came in the 2001/02 season when she won the Lake Louise Downhill on December 9, 2001 and with another three podium places (2 × Downhill and 1 × Super-G), second in the downhill classification, fourth in the Super G rating and seventh place overall. In the same winter, she also took part in the European Cup for the first time . At the Junior World Championships in 2002 , she finished 13th in the downhill and 16th in the Super-G.
In November and December 2002 McCarty came at the North American races in Aspen and Lake Louise for their first four appearances in the World Cup . In the first descent of Lake Louise, she won her first World Cup points in 25th place. In the Nor-Am Cup in the 2002/03 season she won the downhill rankings with two wins and a second place. In the Super G classification, she finished sixth with two podium places, which brought her to fifth place overall. In the European Cup, she was also able to book two podium places in the downhill runs from Tarvisio and Innerkrems , making her sixth in the downhill classification. At the Junior World Championships in 2003 , she achieved eighth place in the downhill.
In the 2003/04 Nor-Am Cup season , McCarty achieved two wins, two second and two fifth places in the six Super-Gs of the season, making her the Super-G ranking this winter. In the downhill she fell back to seventh with only one podium, but in the overall standings she achieved the best result of her career with fourth. In the European Cup she achieved a total of three podium places this winter , including her only victory in the Super-G in Innerkrems on January 21, 2004. She was able to classify herself among the top ten in both the Downhill and Super-G rankings . Shortly after her European Cup victory, McCarty also made it to the top in the World Cup. After she finished 26th in the two runs from Lake Louise at the beginning of the 2003/04 World Cup season and then remained without points in two races, she surprisingly reached fifth place on January 30, 2004 in the first downhill run from Haus im Ennstal and thus the best World Cup result of her career. The following day she achieved her second-best result with ninth place in the second descent. With 13th place at the season finale in Sestriere , she finally finished 21st in the Downhill World Cup.
The following winter, McCarty focused almost exclusively on the World Cup. She was able to classify herself regularly in the points ranks in the 2004/05 season and drove six times under the top 20, but she did not get top 10 results. The best result of the season was 13th in the Lake Louise Downhill on December 4th. In the final ranking this meant 23rd place in the downhill, 30th place in the Super-G and 57th place in the overall World Cup. In April 2005 she also became the American Super-G champion. In the 2005/06 season , McCarty's results deteriorated significantly. She only got into the points in two of 14 World Cup races, which is why she had to start again in the Nor-Am Cup from February, where she got three podiums and she was ninth in the downhill and super-G rankings. After this season McCarty ended her career, but started in a few FIS races the next winter.
