Buôn Ma Thuột

Buôn Ma Thuột (also Ban Mê Thuột or Ban Mê ) is the capital of the Dak Lak province in the central highlands of Vietnam . The city has about 340,000 inhabitants.

Buon Ma Thuot was built on volcanic ground. The city is surrounded by spruce and pine forests . The volcanic soil is very fertile. For this reason, coffee plants and rubber trees are also planted in the area around Buon Ma Thuot . There are also large vineyards and their own type of wine.

Because of the military airfields in Buon Ma Thuot, the city was of strategic importance during the Vietnam War . It is mainly inhabited by Bahnar and Jarai . The Buon Ma Thuot Airport is close to the city (seven kilometers).
