Buala is a small town with 2,813 inhabitants on the Solomon Islands - Island of Santa Isabel and also the main town and administrative center of the province and the fourth largest city in the country.
Geographical
Buala is located on the south-eastern north coast of the 200 kilometer long island.
The nearest international airport is 153 km away in the state capital Honiara on Guadalcanal ; the regional airport of the city of Fera Airport is located on the offshore island of Fera 3 km away and is reached by water taxis.
The densely forested mountains immediately southwest and west of the village reach heights of over 1000 m, in the excursion destination Mount Sasari 977 m (−8.1666667, 159.55).
The climate is tropical with high precipitation rates.

History and politics
From colonial times to the present, Buala was and is repeatedly in an area of unrest, especially during the Pacific War between the Japanese and the Americans and their allies. From 1886 to the Samoa Treaty (1899) the place and island belonged to the German colonial empire in the Pacific .
