Bubanza is a city in the northwest of Burundi . It is the capital of the Bubanza Province . It is also the seat of the municipality of Bubanza .
geography
The city is located in the central part of the province, north of the Mpande River , at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level . It is located about 16 miles north of Bujumbura , the country's capital.
population
The 2008 census counted 20,031 residents in the city. In 1990 it was still 2945 inhabitants.

The Roman Catholic diocese of Bubanza , founded on June 7, 1980, has its seat in the city.
