Bubanza is a province of Burundi , the capital of which is also called Bubanza . It is located in the northwest of the country, bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

In 2008, Bubanza has an estimated population of 404,500.

Bubanza is divided into the districts of Bubanza, Gihanga , Mpanda , Musigati and Rugazi . In the province, rice and cotton are grown as cash crops , and cattle are raised.
