Bujumbura Rural is one of the 18 provinces of the state of Burundi and is located in the west of the country.

In 2009, 1,072,400 inhabitants lived in the province on 1421 km², which corresponds to a population density of 754.68 inhabitants / km².

The former President Cyprien Ntaryamira comes from this province.

On March 26, 2015, the new province of Rumonge was formed from parts of Bujumbura Rural and Bururi . The districts of Muhuta and Bugarama were spun off from Bujumbura Rural.
