Gitega (alternative spelling Kitega ) is a province of Burundi whose capital is also called Gitega . It is located in the center of the country.

In 2008, Gitega had a population of 725,223.

Gitega is divided into the eleven districts of Bugendana , Bukirasazi , Buraza , Giheta , Gishubi , Gitega, Makebuko , Mutaho , Nyanrusange , Ryansoro and Taba .
