Rumonge is a province of Burundi , the capital of which is also called Rumonge . The province is located in the southwest of the country and borders on Lake Tanganyika .
On March 26, 2015, the province was formed from parts of the provinces Bururi and Bujumbura Rural . The districts Burambi , Buyengero and Rumonge were spun off from Bururi and the districts Bugarama and Muhuta from Bujumbura Rural .
