Kayanza is a province of the east African state of Burundi . It has about 487,000 inhabitants. It is located in the north of the country, on the border with Rwanda . The provincial capital is also called Kayanza .

Kayanza is divided into the nine districts of Butaganzwa , Gahombo , Gatara , Kabarore , Kayanza, Matongo , Muhanga , Muruta and Rango (district) .
