Bucelas is a town and municipality in Portugal , in the greater Lisbon area .
The local protected wine-growing region of Bucelas is well known .
history
In 1522 Bucelas belonged to the third district (3º Bairro) of Lisbon . From 1852 it belonged to the district of Santa Maria dos Olivais , to be attached to the district of Loures from 1886.
Bucelas has been a protected wine-growing region since 1911 .
In 1927 Bucelas was elevated to a small town ( Vila ).
Culture, sports and sights
Every year in October, the Festa do Vinho e das Vindímas is a folk festival. The place, which despite its proximity to Lisbon remained rather rural, is known for its wine. a. for his white wine made from Arinto grapes.
In the main church of the village, the Igreja Matriz de Bucelas , built in 1566 , there are a. a variety of azulejo arrangements worth seeing . It has been a listed building since 1946.
Another of the 23 protected monuments of the municipality is the Lápide do Termo da Cidade de Lisboa , the boundary stone that once marked the city limits of Lisbon, and the ANIM ( Arquivo Nacional de Imagens em Movimento ), the restoration and archive center of the state film institute, the Cinemateca Portuguesa .
The Voluntary Fire Brigade ( Bombeiros Voluntários de Bucelas ) was founded on July 26, 1891, and the Banda Recreativa de Bucelas music and cultural association on June 21, 1863.
