history

In 1522 Bucelas belonged to the third district (3º Bairro) of Lisbon . From 1852 it belonged to the district of Santa Maria dos Olivais , to be attached to the district of Loures from 1886.

Bucelas has been a protected wine-growing region since 1911 .
