The Bay of Dili is located on the north coast of the island of Timor , leading to the Lesser Sunda Islands belongs.

Dili , the capital of East Timor, is located on the bay . Its center with the government district is located on another smaller indentation on the south bank. To the west of this is the port of Dili with the Motael lighthouse . At the western end of the Bay of Dili the Rio Comoro flows into the sea, to the south the Mota Claran .
The eastern tip forms the Capa Fatu Cama , on which the statue of Jesus Christ Cristo Rei stands. A little south of it is the Areia Branca beach .
history
When the Portuguese reached the bay, they set up a small post here in 1520. The area belonged to the kingdom of Motael and was left to the Portuguese by the local ruler ( Liurai ) when they moved the capital of their colony Portuguese Timor here on August 11, 1769 .
