Jordan Peugeot 196

The Jordan 196 was the Formula 1 race car with the team Jordan-Peugeot at the Formula 1 1996 season participated. It was designed by Gary Anderson , who had worked as a designer for Jordan since 1990.

history

In the first races of the season, the Jordan 196 was painted a light yellow shade. In order to match the paintwork to the main sponsor Benson & Hedges , the familiar gold tone was later changed.

The drivers were Rubens Barrichello , who was already in his fourth season for Jordan, and Martin Brundle , who moved to Jordan from Ligier after the 1995 season.

The best result of the season was achieved at the Italian Grand Prix , in which Brundle crossed the finish line in fourth and Barrichello in fifth. At the end of the season, Jordan finished fifth in the constructors' championship with 22 points.

The Jordan 196 was powered by a Peugeot A12 V10 engine with a capacity of 3000 cc. The transmission was a semi-automatic Jordan 7-speed transmission. The fuel was supplied by Total . Like all teams in the 1996 season, the tires were obtained from Goodyear .
