The Jordan EJ14 was the Formula 1 - racing cars of Jordan Grand Prix for the 2004 season . It is a further development of the Jordan EJ13 from the previous year and the 14th vehicle in the Jordan Grand Prix in Formula 1.

technology

As in previous years, Jordan used a seven-speed transmission with an additional reverse gear developed in-house.

Jordan also continued to use Ford-Cosworth engines in the EJ14 . However, it wasn't the current Cosworth CR-6, dubbed Ford RS2, that Jaguar Racing also used. The engine was a ten cylinder with a 90 degree cylinder bank angle and 2998 cc displacement .

Sponsors and liveries

As in previous years, the basic color of the car was yellow; The front and rear wings, T-Cam and side pods were black. The main sponsor remained the tobacco brand Benson & Hedges , which advertised on both wings, the nose, the side pods and on the driver's helmets.

In countries where advertising for tobacco products was not allowed, the Benson & Hedges lettering was partially pasted over so that “BE ON EDGE” (English for “be irritated”, “be nervous”) could be read or replaced by the team name .

driver

The drivers were new for the 2004 season. The German Nick Heidfeld , who swapped his cockpit with Giancarlo Fisichella at Sauber, and the Italian Giorgio Pantano , who had contested the International Formula 3000 Championship last year , joined the team. Heidfeld was committed because of his ability and drove all 18 races of the season. Pantano was a paydriver and got the cockpit because of his sponsorship money. At the Canadian Grand Prix , he was replaced by the substitute driver Timo Glock after Pantano's sponsors did not pay the promised money. In the last three races, Pantano was also replaced by Glock due to non-payment.
