description

The hall church was built by builder Michel Frei in 1589 instead of the demolished St. Anne's Church . The church tower in the west is aligned with the south wall of the nave . The Romanesque ground floor of the tower has a walled round arch that rests on fighters . It is the rest of the choir tower of the Annenkirche. In 1730 the tower and choir were rebuilt. Today's appearance is largely determined by the renovations of 1792. In addition to the windows and doors, the tower received another upper floor with round arched sound arcades , in which the belfry is located. Church bells hang in it , one from 1611, the second from 1645, which Hieronymus Moeringk from Erfurt cast. The tower is covered with a bell-shaped dome on which an open lantern sits, which is crowned by a tower ball .

The interior has two-story galleries and is covered with a flat ceiling that is ornamentally painted. The organ gallery in the west is concave. The first organ was built by Caspar Stamm from Wiegleben in 1730 . It was replaced in 1875 by Friedrich Christian Knauf an organ with 18 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal . The church furnishings include a late Romanesque baptismal font , carved figures of a crescent Madonna from the end of the 15th century and St. John the Evangelist from the 1st half of the 17th century.
