The R24 was the Formula 1 - racing cars from Renault for the 2004 season . It was the successor to the Renault R23 used in the previous season .
technology
From the 2004 season onwards, the regulations required not to change the engine during the entire race weekend. Renault developed a new 3-liter V10 with a 72 ° bank angle for the season . It replaced the less reliable V10 from previous years, which was wider with a bank angle of 111 °.
driver
As in the previous year, the drivers were the Italian Jarno Trulli and the Spaniard Fernando Alonso . The test driver was Franck Montagny . After the 15th race, the Italian Grand Prix , Jarno Trulli was replaced by Jacques Villeneuve for the last three remaining races of the season.
2004 season
The 2004 season concluded Renault in third place overall from behind the dominant Scuderia Ferrari and BAR-Honda . Jarno Trulli achieved the only GP victory of the season in Monaco . In the following years Fernando Alonso placed three times in the top three; he did not achieve a victory. Jarno Trulli was replaced by Jaques Villeneuve after the Italian Grand Prix due to a lack of success in the last few races, who did not score any points either.
