The BAR 006 was the Formula 1 - racing cars of BAR-Honda for the 2004 season . It was the further development of the BAR 005 used in the previous season .
General
The 2004 season marked a turning point for BAR . Jacques Villeneuve as the undisputed team leader was dismissed in the 2003 season and replaced by Takuma Satō . For the first time since its founding, BAR played the season without Jacques Villeneuve. They also switched from the tire manufacturer Bridgestone to Michelin .
technology
Compared to the previous year's car, the chassis was designed to be stiffer. It was tuned to the new Michelin tires in order to work optimally with the tire unknown to the team. In addition, the car has a lower center of gravity.
2004 season
The car proved to be very competitive from the start. Both drivers were among the top three eleven times, and Jenson Button also achieved pole position in Imola. However, neither driver could achieve a victory. BAR was unable to compete with Scuderia Ferrari . Second place in the constructors' championship was successfully defended against Renault .
