The BAR 002 was the Formula 1 - racing cars of BAR-Honda for the 2000 season . It was BAR's second car and a direct successor to BAR 01 .
General
After the disaster of 1999, when BAR did not score a single world championship point, better technology was needed in 2000 in order to be competitive and to belong to the top. Advertising for State Express 555 was also discontinued, as the brand was largely unknown in Europe and North America, and the main sponsorship area on the vehicle, wings and side pods was awarded to Lucky Strike.
Sponsors and liveries
Instead of the two-tone paintwork in the previous year, the basic color of the car was white with some silver surfaces on the nose, the air scoop and the rear wing. The round logo of Lucky Strike was on the side pods and in front of the cockpit . On race tracks in countries where tobacco advertising was prohibited, the Lucky Strike advertising was changed: the lettering was removed from the round logo, but elsewhere (on the top of the side pods and on the rear spoiler) the slogan "Look Alike" ( English analogously for "doppelganger"). In addition, Sonax , bee-trade.com and, as in the previous year, the Canadian provider Teleglobe , brought in by Jacques Villeneuve, were advertised.
technology
In contrast to last year's car, the vehicle was developed solely by Malcolm Oastler . The engine was the RA000E V10 engine from Honda . The technology of the 6-speed gearbox was retained, but no longer developed in cooperation with Xtrac , but by BAR alone. The suspensions both consisted of two wishbones with push rods. Mechanical torsion springs and mechanical stabilizers have also been developed, but they have been very complicated and unreliable. The gasoline came from Nippon Oil and the tires, as in the previous year, from Bridgestone .
2000 season
In contrast to the previous year, the car turned out to be a midfield vehicle, at least in Australia, so that both Villeneuve and Zonta scored points in the race. After that there were only irregular scores. The best position of the season was fourth place, achieved in Australia, Austria, France and the USA by Jacques Villeneuve.
