Dan M. "Buck" Brannaman (born January 29, 1962 in Sheboygan , Wisconsin ) is an American horse trainer and one of the leading horse whisperers . One of his main goals is to create an environment for horses in which the animals feel safe in the presence of people, so that horse and rider can enter into a symbiosis.

Brannaman was born in Wisconsin and grew up in Montana and Idaho . For many years he was a student of Ray Hunt , one of the first horse whisperers. He was also influenced by Tom and Bill Dorrance . Today he trains riders all over the world.

Movies

Brannaman had a large part in the film The Horse Whisperer by Robert Redford . The character Tom Booker in the underlying novel The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans is designed after him. When the film was being made, he was the lead consultant for the horse shoots and partially doubled the lead actor Robert Redford.

In 2011, Cindy Meehl shot the documentary Buck: The Real Horse Whisperer with Brannaman , in which Redford is also involved.
