Buddha Air ( Nepali बुद्ध एयर Buddha Eyr ) is a Nepalese airline based in Kathmandu and based at Kathmandu Airport .
history
Buddha Air was founded on April 23, 1996. Flight operations began on October 11, 1997 with a Beechcraft 1900D to five destinations within Nepal. There is also a daily scenic flight to Mount Everest . Since August 2010 Buddha Air has been the first and only airline besides Drukair to also fly to neighboring Bhutan . The chairman is Surendra Bahadur Basnet, Managing Director Birendra Bahadur Basnet.
Since November 2013, the company has been on the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union together with all other airlines from Nepal due to safety concerns . Flights to Europe were not offered before, however.
Destinations
Buddha Air flies from Kathmandu to numerous destinations within Nepal. Cities in East Asia are offered internationally .

Incidents
- On September 25, 2011, after a sightseeing flight over the Himalayas, a Buddha Air Beechcraft 1900D (registration number 9N-AEK ) was flown against a hill shortly before landing at Kathmandu Airport . At the time of the crash, the clouds were low. All 16 passengers and 3 crew members were killed.
