Buddy Van Horn

Wayne "Buddy" Van Horn (born August 20, 1929 ) is an American stuntman and director , who is known for his longstanding collaboration with Clint Eastwood .

Life

Van Horn began his film career in 1951 as an uncredited stuntman in the western Am Marterpfahl der Sioux . A few more westerns followed by the mid-1950s, in 1955 he worked in Die nackte Geisel for the first time with Clint Eastwood, who played a small supporting role in this film. Some of the better-known films he starred in as a stuntman during these years include Around the World in 80 Days and Spartacus . His long-term collaboration with Eastwood began in 1968 when he first acted as his personal stunt double in Coogan's Big Bluff . In the following films by Eastwood, Van Horn was always there as his double. In 1973 he took over at Dirty Harry II - Calahan , the assistant director and finally resulted in the 1980s in three films Eastwood's directing. In total, Van Horn has worked with Eastwood in over 40 films, including Mystic River , Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino , where he worked as a stunt coordinator.
