action

1876: John Vickers, a quiet man, manages to track down one of the three men who killed his fiancée after a bank robbery. Before the man dies, he confesses that his accomplices joined the U.S. 7th Cavalry. Vickers, who is a former officer himself, joins the troops as a simple soldier to track them down. At the fort he received a message that a campaign against the Sioux and Cheyenne was imminent.

During a patrol ride, Vickers and his people are ambushed by the Indians and trapped for days on a small island in the middle of a raging river. During the night a soldier breaks through and reaches the fort. At the last second, Vickers and the other survivors are rescued. After that incident with the Sioux, Vickers is certain that Sergeant O'Hara is one of his wife's murderers. But can he reconcile his desire for revenge with loyalty to the army? Meanwhile, Vickers falls in love with Molly, the pretty daughter of shopkeeper Sam Quade.

During the Indian uprising, Vickers, Molly and the two murderers fall into the hands of the Sioux after another attack by the Indians on a covered wagon and are supposed to die on the stake. The Indians want to know from their prisoners where General Custer and his troops are, but Vickers and the others are silent. During an attempt to escape, O'Hara and his accomplice are killed. Vickers and Molly manage to escape, but first they learn from the Indians that more warriors are on the warpath against the whites. But before they can warn General Custer of the overwhelming power of the Indians, they have surrounded him at the Little Big Horn . There is a bloody battle .

criticism
