Budgie , actually Peter Edward Clarke (born August 21, 1957 in St Helens , England ) is a British drummer .

Life

At the beginning of his career he played (still under the pseudonym Blister ) together with Paul Rutherford in the Liverpool punk rock band Spitfire Boys , which in 1977 released a single with British Refugee / Mein Kampf that was widely recognized in the punk scene and broke up shortly afterwards. He was then a founding member of the band Big in Japan , in which Holly Johnson played the electric bass and Ian Broudie played the electric guitar . After this band broke up after the release of the first single, he replaced the drummer Palmolive, who had dropped out of the band The Slits, and worked on Cut , the band's first album. In 1979 he joined The Slits and replaced with Siouxsie and the Banshees the short term excreted Kenny Morris . Originally he was only supposed to step in temporarily, but then stayed until the band split up in 1996. Together with front woman Siouxsie , he founded the formation The Creatures as a side project .

Clarke was married to Siouxsie Sioux from May 1991 to 2007 , they lived together in France , today he lives in Berlin.
