The Budhigandaki (also Budhi Gandaki or Budhi Gandak ) is a right tributary of the Trishuli in Nepal .
The Budhigandaki rises near Samagaun ( Gorkha district ) in the Himalayas north of Manaslu . It is fed by several glaciers . The Budhigandaki initially flows in an easterly direction. Below Prok the Tom Khola , which flows off the Tibetan highlands and drains an area of 1365 km² in the People's Republic of China , meets the Budhigandaki from the left. The Budhigandaki is gradually turning to the southeast. The Siyar Khola , which drains the massif of the Ganesh Himal and flows through the Tsum Valley ( Tsum Valley ), flows into the Budhigandaki on the left. This now turns south and maintains its direction of flow for about 90 km to its mouth. Near Salyantar , another larger tributary, the Akhu Khola , meets the river from the left. Eventually the Budhigandaki reaches the Trishuli, which flows westwards. The last 40 km the river forms the border between the Gorkha district in the west and the Dhading district in the east. The Budhigandaki has a length of about 150 km. Its catchment area covers 5370 km². The mean discharge is 195 m³ / s.
A dam project with a power plant output of 600 MW is planned about 2 km above the mouth.
The Budhigandaki is a destination for rafting and kayaking tourists . The route begins below Arughat Bazar and has rapids of difficulty II - III +.
