The Bugenhagen Vocational Training Center (BBW) is a vocational training center on Timmendorfer Strand in Strandallee 2a. The sponsor is the Diakonie-Hilfswerk Schleswig-Holstein (DHW) in the group / North German Society for Diakonia (NGD) based in Rendsburg . The vocational training center was named after the reformer Johannes Bugenhagen .
history
In 1947 the Bugenhagen boarding school was founded. At that time mainly students came who were orphans or half-orphans and who had large gaps in their school education due to war and flight. The students attended the Ostsee-Gymnasium , which was run by the state from 1964.
In 1976 the boarding school was re-established as Bugenhagen vocational training center. Originally the BBW was specialized in people with learning difficulties or learning disabilities, but later more and more people with other limitations were accepted.

Vocational preparation
Vocational training measure (BvB)
The BvB is a measure that can last up to eleven months. It is based on the individual skills and abilities of the participants, the needs of the job market and personal professional interests and inclinations. At the beginning of the BvB the following is determined:

The qualification plan is developed and implemented together with each participant. A job-related and company-oriented qualification takes place in our own workshops, which is supplemented by company internships.

Work trials (AE)
The work trial is a measure for young people with a fixed career aspiration. During the course of the measure, it is checked whether and under what conditions the career aspiration can be realized. To this end, the participants complete 20 working days in the desired training area. In addition, tests on school knowledge and specialist medical assessments take place.
Aptitude assessment (EA)
The aptitude test is a measure for young people who do not have a fixed career aspiration. The aim is to find a job that the participant likes and for which the participant is suitable. During the course of 60 days, the participants can try out various training areas. In addition, aptitude tests, school knowledge tests and a socio-medical assessment take place.
Vocational training
In the Bugenhagen BBW, training is made possible, supported by internships in commercial enterprises. The participants are further supported by offers of help such as psychologist talks or social training. The aim is to ultimately achieve a level of training comparable to that in the private sector.

VAmB
The VAmB (interlinked training with vocational training centers ) is a special form of operational testing. Here, the trainees spend at least six months in a commercial enterprise, where they learn skills and abilities in accordance with the training framework.
Living and Housing
boarding schools
The participants are given the opportunity to live in one of the two boarding school complexes on Timmendorfer Strand or in Lübeck-Blankensee , or in one of the outdoor living groups or in one of the outdoor boarding schools . The boarding schools are divided into single and double rooms.
