Bulach (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bulach is a desert area in the Iphöfer district of Mönchsondheim in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The village was probably abandoned in the second half of the 13th century. The reasons for this are unclear.

Geographical location

Bulach is located in the extreme southeast of the Mönchsondheimer district. Today the kidney mill is located to the south-west , about 450 m from the desertification site. Bulach is located southeast of the 305 m high Hohenberg at its foot on a small high plateau. An unnamed tributary of the Breitbach runs on the former area of the settlement. In the south, the Breitbach flows from the direction of Nenzenheim past the Herrgottsmühle .

history

The place name refers to a light beech grove nearby. Bulach was first mentioned in a document dated between 1245 and 1272. At that time, the Münsterschwarzach abbot Rudiger von Langheim acquired a total of six men from Friedrich von Scheinfeld. The village was then called "Bwlach". These possessions were confirmed to the Benedictine abbey on the Schwarzach in 1252 by Pope Innocent IV . The tithe for “Buoloch” appeared in the sources.

In 1283 the village changed hands and the Cistercian monks from Ebrach Monastery bought it. In the document, the village was named "villa deserta Bulach" (desert village Bulach) because the residents had probably left the settlement shortly before. Nevertheless, Ebrach continued to award the tithe to deserving feudal men. In 1285 Heinrich, called Decimatori, received the Zehnthof in Mönchsondheim and the associated taxes in “Bulach”.

The abandoned settlement was also mentioned in the 14th century. In 1359 the "Bulacher mule " was called. It existed until the 18th century. In 1518 she appeared in a corridor next to vineyards and meadows “in the cleynn flüerlein near the Bulessmüle”. In 1714 she was mentioned as the "Buhlachß Mühl". However, in 1784 the Nenzenheim field name "auf dem Bullach" was found. The “Im Bullach” corridor can be found in the Mönchsondheim district.
