Location of the Herrgottsmühle (bold) in the Iphöfer municipality

Herrgottsmühle is a wasteland on the boundaries of the Iphöfer district of Nenzenheim in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

Geographical location

The Herrgottsmühle is relatively centrally located in the Iphöfer municipality on the Breitbach . To the north is the Hohlbrunnermühle belonging to Dornheim . Dornheim is to the east. To the south-east lies the Limpurger Forest nature reserve some distance away, separated by state road 2418. The southwest is occupied by Nenzenheim , while in the west the area of Willanzheim begins with the district of Hüttenheim in Bavaria . The kidney grinder is in the northwest.

history

The place name goes back to the geographical conditions in the area around the mill. Perhaps it can be interpreted as the "mill by the chapel ". Possibly there was also a wayside cross that influenced the name of the mill. It is unlikely that the last name of a miller coined the mill name. The Käppele corridor in the immediate vicinity of the mill makes the first assumption of a small church likely.

The mill was first mentioned in 1595. At that time it was called "Hergotsmüel". In 1597 a "Herrgotsmüller" was mentioned. Later the mill name varied frequently. In 1633 it was called "Herchets Mühl", 1703 "Hergets Mühl" and around 1723 "Hergetsmühl". In 1784 Elias Wüllfarth was tenant of the mill, which belonged to the Voit von Salzburg . In 1834 the mill already belonged to Nenzenheim and was part of the estate of the Barons Wöllwarth in Ippesheim .
