Hohlbrunnermühle (also Himmeleinsmühle, Eselsmühle) is a wasteland on the outskirts of the Iphöfer district of Dornheim in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .
Geographical location
The Hohlbrunnermühle is relatively centrally located in the Iphöfer municipality on the Breitbach tributary Zettelbach . In the north is the Lower Mill of Nenzenheim am Kirchbach, to the northeast is Nenzenheim. The southeast is occupied by Dornheim, while the Herrgottsmühle is in the south . The Zettelbach flows into the Breitbach to the southwest of the mill . This is where the kidney grinder connects . To the northwest is Mönchsondheim .
history
The place name might indicate the natural occurrences in the area. The mill could go back to the so-called “hay fountain”, a spring in the area. In the Main Franconian dialect , the source is also called "hailbrun", which indicates the fabulous abilities of the water. At times the mill was also named after the owner at the time. The name Erlmühle, which is used in a source, probably goes back to a transcription error.
The mill was first mentioned in the year 1407. At that time the registered Urbar of the Cistercian monastery Ebrach near the village a "molendium" (mill). There followed a larger gap in the tradition, the system then reappeared in the sources before 1723 as "Erlmühle". In 1799, the "Eselsmühle" was located a quarter of an hour northwest of Dornheim. At that time, a donkey probably also drove the mill.
In 1830 "a mill estate, called the Eselsmühle" was described. At that time the plant had both a grinding and a tanning plant . The owner was Georg Adam Himmellein, whose father owned the mill before 1821. In 1833 the name Eselsmühle reappeared before the "Himelesmühle" was first mentioned around 1835. In 1864 the "Himmeleinsmühle" was mentioned. It has been called Hohlbrunnermühle since 1867.
Attractions
The old mill building has largely been preserved and is classified as a historical building by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments . It presents itself as a two-storey building that ends with a half-hipped roof . The mill has plastered timber framing from the 18th century. In addition, there is a barn and the former wooden shed of the mill.
