The Zettelbach is a 2.5 km long brook in the Steigerwald foreland in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen , which flows from the right into the Breitbach after a 2.5 km long, essentially west-southwest run at the kidney mill , town of Iphofen . The brook is the boundary between the districts of Iphöfer Dornheim and Hellmitzheim and a year-round flowing water of the 3rd order .

geography

course

The Zettelbach rises at about 310  m above sea level. NHN of a source in the valley section called Dornheimer Grund, just 300 m west of the left side branch upper course of the Kirchbach . Always running west-south-west in a flat valley cut, the brook picks up a spring on the left after approx. 350 m before it crosses under the state road St 2418 Würzburg - federal road 8 . Further on, without changing direction, in the wooded valley, which is now deeper and deeper, it takes a 100 m long tributary from the right about 650 m before the mouth, immediately afterwards it touches the Hohlbrunnermühle in a right-angled right-angled swing and immediately takes up the old direction again. In a slight curve to the south, the Zettelbach divides into two branches that take a small pond in their middle. After only 100 m, opposite a pond and southeast of the kidney mill, it flows into the Breitbach from the right .

Over a length of 2.5 km, the Zettelbach has an absolute gradient of around 33 meters in altitude and thus a mean bed gradient of around 13 ‰.

Catchment area

It covers about 2 km² and is located south in the Hellmitzheim Bay in front of the western Steigerwald in the sub-area of the Steigerwald foreland of the Mainfränkische Platten natural area .

The catchment area of the Zettelbach is drained all around by two other brooks that also flow to the Breitbach. Beyond the eastern watershed lies the headwaters of the Hellmitzheimer Kirchbach in the area of the Spitzsee, which, after its left curve, continues to border the northern watershed with its catchment area. Behind the southern one, a small stream runs roughly from Dornheim in an almost parallel direction to the Zettelbach to its mouth at the Herrgottsmühle.

Unlike that of its two competitors, the Zettelbach catchment area does not border on that of Bibart . Its highest point is on the eastern watershed towards Spitzsee at around 335  m above sea level. NHN . The left mouth spur Buck between the nearby brook from Dornheim and the Zettelbach a little east of the mouth is still 317  m above sea level. NHN , the catchment area is quite flat on the plain above the valley basin.

Geologically, the catchment area of the upper reaches on the northern edge is partly and especially on the eastern edge entirely in Gipskeuper , but its predominant part including the valley basin is in the Unterkeuper .
