The Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra ( Serbian - Cyrillic Булевар краља Александра ) is a street in the Serbian capital Belgrade . With a length of 7.5 km, it is one of the longest streets in the city. During the time of the SFR Yugoslavia , the street was called Bulevar Revolucije . Most of the Belgrade people simply call the street Bulevar .

Due to its length, the boulevard runs through four of the eight districts of downtown Belgrade: Stari Grad , Palilula , Vračar and Zvezdara . It begins at Nikola-Pašić-Platz and leads in a south-easterly direction to the outskirts of the city to Mali Mokri Lug , where it becomes Smederevski put , the road connection to Smederevo .

In the middle of the 18th century, the street that is now occupied by the boulevard was called Carigradski drum , as it left Belgrade in the direction of Constantinople ( Carigrad in Serbian ). The residents of Belgrade had gradually settled outside the city walls on the street.

Buildings on the boulevard

In addition to the Skupština , the conference building of the National Assembly of Serbia and the Serbian Parliament, the Belgrade City Hall in the Old City Palace and the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Mark are located on the boulevard . Further east are several faculties of Belgrade University and the Vuk Karadžić monument along the road.
