The Federal Careers Ordinance ( BLV ) is a German legal ordinance that regulates the recruitment of applicants for employment as civil servants in the federal service and their professional development. It specifies the corresponding regulations in the Federal Civil Service Act . The FSVO for its part is explained by a general administrative regulation of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Building and Home Affairs .

The first federal career regulation came into force on September 1, 1956. At this point in time came the "Ordinance on the provisional regulation of the career system in the Federal Service" of November 30, 1953 ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 1543 ) as well as the "Reich Principles on Recruitment, Employment and Promotion" of October 14, 1936 and the "Ordinance on the Education and career paths of German civil servants ”of February 28, 1939, both provisions in the version of the announcement of January 24, 1951 ( Federal Law Gazette I, p. 87 ), no longer in force. The current revision is from 2009.
