TeleTrusT
Bundesverband IT-Sicherheit eV (TeleTrusT) , founded in 1989, is a competence network that includes domestic and foreign members from industry, consulting, administration and science as well as thematically related partner organizations. TeleTrusT offers forums for experts, organizes events and participation in events and expresses itself on current issues of IT security. The aim of the association is in particular to promote the trustworthiness of information and communication technology.
On request, the association awards companies the TeleTrusT trust mark "IT Security made in Germany" (ITSMIG) for trustworthy IT security solutions without hidden "back doors".
The association's headquarters are in Berlin .
history
The suggestion for an organization called "TeleTrusT" goes back to Eckart Raubold, at the time the Society for Mathematics and Data Processing, in the mid-1980s. The original idea was to develop standards for chip cards and "trust centers" for communication and payment systems.
The first draft of a TeleTrusT statute was dated January 26, 1989, the association formally on April 4, 1989 at a meeting at the invitation of the GMD (Society for Mathematics and Data Processing mbH, later "Forschungszentrum Informationstechnik GmbH", 2000 / 2001 integrated into the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research eV) in Darmstadt and after completion of the legal preparations on June 16, 1989 under the name "TeleTrust Germany eV" (at that time still with 2 capital "T") in the register of associations on District Court of Bonn registered.
The founding board members were Eckkart Raubold (chairman), Wolfgang Schröder, Dieter Weber and Franz Arnold. Founding members were among others GMD , mbp, DATEV , SCS, KryptoKom, TELES , SIEMENS and ORGA.
According to a note made by Raubold, TeleTrusT is to be developed into a brand for certain common properties of products as well as technical and organizational aids, and this is to be implemented, among other things, through thematic working groups. For example, a working group "Legal Aspects" was planned from the start. Internationalization was also part of the club's idea. The use of "Europe blue" was expressly specified for the TeleTrusT logo.
A press release on the occasion of the founding of the association refers to the statutes and specifies the general objective of "promoting reliable tele-information technology in business, society and the state on a national and international level". "TeleTrusT stands for a security concept in electronic data communication. [...] The focus is therefore on procedures that protect electronically transmitted data from misuse. [...] In particular, the recognition of the electronic signature should be promoted." The role that TeleTrusT intends to play in standardization is expressly emphasized.
Norbert Pohlmann has been the chairman of the board since April 1997 .

Certificates for IT security experts are issued as part of the TeleTrusT Information Security Professional Program (TISP).
From 2009 to 2011 TeleTrusT accompanied the Germany-wide project "Network Electronic Business Traffic" (NEG) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology . TeleTrusT participates in the task force "IT security in the economy" of the BMWi and coordinated the self-initiated project "IT security in the hotel industry". TeleTrusT is a co-sponsor of the Cyber Security Challenge Germany.
In 2017, the TeleTrusT general meeting decided, on behalf of the association, to initiate a constitutional complaint against the "Act on the More Effective and Practical Design of Criminal Proceedings", which provides for the state use of IT weak points ("Federal Trojans").

TeleTrusT is a member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), a founding member of the European Cyber Security Organization (ECSO) as well as in the "IT Security Coordination Office" (KITS) of DIN and in the "CEN / CENELEC Cyber Security Co-ordination Group" .

EBCA
TeleTrusT operates the European Bridge CA ( EBCA ). The EBCA is an amalgamation of individual, equal public key infrastructures (PKIs) to form a PKI network. It enables secure and authentic communication between the companies, institutions and public administrations involved.
Events
The association regularly organizes national and international trade fair and conference participations together with its members (e.g. RSA Conference San Francisco, BITS, Infosecurity London, Intersec and GISEC Dubai, Nordic IT Stockholm). TeleTrusT is a partner of the IT security fair and conference it-sa Nuremberg, it-sa Brasil Sao Paulo, it-sa India Mumbai and numerous other events.

The managing director is Holger Mühlbauer. The chairman of the board is Norbert Pohlmann ( Institute for Internet Security at the Westphalian University).
