The Bunker Museum in Skanderborg ( Danish Skanderborg Museum Bunkern ) is part of the Skanderborg Museum . It commemorates the period from April 1940 to May 1945 when Denmark suffered under German occupation .

history

After the occupation of Denmark by the Wehrmacht as part of the “ Weser Exercise Company ”, two bunkers were built in the Dyrehave wildlife park south of the center of Skanderborg as a command post for the headquarters of the German Air Force in Denmark . Today these serve as a museum bunker to illustrate the occupation period.

A special exhibit is an original Enigma I rotor cipher machine , which was used during the war to encrypt secret German communications.
