Dermacentor ( Dermacentor , of . Altgriech derma , skin 'and Centeo , prick') are a genus of ticks with 35 species. They play a role as disease vectors in humans and animals.

These are relatively large ticks with white pigmentation in the chitin shield (scutum). The capitulum is triangular with relatively short mouthparts. Eyes are present. The first pair of coxes carries thorns, possibly the others too. An anal plate is not formed and the anal pit is indistinct.
