Burchard Tappius (the Latinized form of Tappe) also: Burchardus Tappius and Burchard Tappe (born January 16, 1634 in Liebenhall ; † 1698 ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

Burchard Tappius came from a family of theologians and scholars. His parents were the pastor and superintendent Georg (Heinrich) Tappe (Tappius), and the Goslar citizen daughter Anna Dikhud (also Dickehaut). He was allegedly enrolled at the University of Helmstedt on July 15, 1645 at the age of 11 . At the University of Frankfurt in 1654 he wrote his dissertation astrologica exhibens judicium eclipseos solaris ... praesede Johanne Placentino in Latin .

In 1659 Tappius took the position of pastor in Meinersen .

From 1669 to 1698 Tappius worked in the Church of St. Petrus in Burgwedel . There “the excellent portrait” of the pastor has been preserved.

The pastor's name can be found, among other things, on the hour bell from 1693 under an annex on the north side of the spire of St. Peter's Church.

Remarks

  1. Possibly the year 1645 is a typographical error in the Tappen family book for matriculation
