Burchard Wulff
Burchard Wulff (* around 1620 in Lübeck ; † 1701 ibid) was a painter of the North German Baroque who worked in Lübeck.
Life
Wulf grew up in Kiel and then went on a journey through the Netherlands, France and England, which led to a ten-year stay in Spain and a further two years in Italy. In 1655 he returned to Kiel and in 1658 went to the court in the Swedish possession of Wismar , where he portrayed King Karl X. Gustav of Sweden with his wife Hedwig Eleonora of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf . In 1659 he was approved as a free master by the Lübeck council . His Lübeck works in the Marienkirche and in the cathedral were a victim of the air raid on Lübeck in 1942. Only the pictures in Jakobi, Aegidien, in the neo-Gothic provost church and in the collections of the St. Anne's Museum have survived.
