history
The Castel Sant'Angelo was built towards the end of the 14th century by the lords of Riesenburg , who also owned the castle and the Bečov rule . Its first written mention comes from 1402, when it was owned by the Boresch / Borso von Riesenburg ( Boreš z Oseka ). In 1406 it came to Ulrich Zajíc von Hasenburg ( Oldřich Zajíc z Házmburka ), after his death at the latest in 1414 to the royal chamber . In 1430 the castle was taken by the Hussite captain Jakob von Wrzessowitz , who made campaigns of conquest to Elbogen , Eger and Bavaria from here . From 1434 the dilapidated castle complex was pledged to the imperial chancellor Kaspar Schlick , who arranged for it to be repaired.
In 1461 King George of Poděbrady pawned the castle to Zbynko Zajíc von Hasenburg ( Zbyněk Zajíc z Házmburka ), in 1463 to the royal chamberlain Johann von Steinbach. In 1467 it was conquered by Heinrich II von Plauen , who was only able to maintain himself there for one year. In 1480 Heinrich III succeeded. von Plauen to occupy the Castel Sant'Angelo again. He expanded the castle into the temporary residence of the Burgraves of Plauen. In 1567 it was owned by Niklas Lobkowitz von Hassenstein . After the Battle of White Mountain , it was confiscated by the Emperor in 1621 and handed over to Count Hermann Czernin von Chudenitz . During the Thirty Years War , the castle was captured by the Swedes in 1635 . After that, it was no longer regularly inhabited. It was not rebuilt after a fire in 1718. The ruin is owned by the Andělská Hora municipality .
