Goldbeck Castle

The castle Goldbeck is located on the southern edge of the village of the same name. Goldbeck is a district of the town of Wittstock / Dosse in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district in Brandenburg . The castle is a listed building.

investment

The castle is a former moated castle , whose now dry moat was previously fed by the Dosse . The facility has been rebuilt over the centuries and adapted to the prevailing tastes.

As a special feature, there is a narrow gate next to the actual gate. This is the only one-man slip gate still in existence in Brandenburg .

history

The place Goldbeck is mentioned for the first time in a document from 1247. At that time it was owned by the von Werle family .

In the dispute between the Margrave Otto V of Brandenburg and the Lords of Werle in 1276, the Lords of Werle lost. The area around Goldbeck came under the rule of Ruppin by the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin , who, however, had to recognize the feudal rule of the bishops of Havelberg. Around 1300, the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin had a moated castle built to secure their rule, which is documented for the first time in 1325.

In 1424 the castle served the robber barons Hans von Bosel and Klaus von Königsmark as a residence.

When the Counts of Lindow-Ruppin died out, the castle came to the Elector Joachim I as an episcopal fief in 1524 . Around 1548 Johann Gans Edler von Putlitz was appointed administrator of the castle by Elector Joachim II .

In 2016, the art and culture association Land-Stadt-Wittstock was to get a room in the castle.
