The castle Kranzenau is an Outbound castle , probably a water castle , southeast of the hamlet of Upper Schaffhausen the community Boetzingen in Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg .
It was first mentioned by name in 1428 and has belonged to the Schnewlin Kotz since 1399 , who called themselves from 1412 "Schnewlin von Kranzenau". The castle was in their possession until the line died out at the end of the 16th century. In 1567 it was still called the “castle” and should therefore not have been removed yet.
No traces of the former castle complex, remains of which could still be seen in the 19th century, have survived.
