The Ostrý , also Šarfnštejn (German Scharfenstein , also Wostrey ) is a prominent mountain in the Bohemian Central Uplands in the Czech Republic . On the top of the mountain are the ruins of the medieval Ostrý castle .
Location and surroundings
The Ostrý is located about 8 kilometers northwest of Lovosice in the Bohemian Central Uplands on the left Elbe. At the foot of the mountain are the places Velemín ( Wellemin ), Milešov ( Milleschau ) and Kocourov ( Kotzauer ).
history
The existence of Ostrý Castle is documented since 1433 as the property of the chaplain de Sulewicz . The castle was only inhabited for a short time. As early as 1535 the lords of the castle left the seat and moved to the fortress of Bílý Újezd. The castle has been considered desolate since 1565.
The keep, the hall and large parts of the walls were demolished in the 18th century when the ruins were used as a quarry.
