history

The castle was built in the 11th century by the Lords of Schlanstedt to protect the transition over the Great Break and is first mentioned in 1267. Under the leadership of Bishop Count Albrecht von Wernigerode , the Halberstadt diocese acquired the castle for 600 Braunschweig marks from the Regenstein family at the beginning of the 14th century. This was followed by the conversion of the round castle into table goods by the Halberstadt bishops. From 1610 to 1620 was the main castle rebuilt again and there was a still-preserved Renaissance - castle from the medieval castle.

In 1650, after the Thirty Years' War and the withdrawal of the Swedes, the castle was transferred to the Elector of Brandenburg and later to the Royal Prussian Domain Office. From 1836 to 1946 the castle was leased to the well-known seed breeding family Rimpau (1888 Wilhelm Rimpau ). After the Second World War , refugee apartments were set up at the castle.

After the castle came into the possession of the municipality of Schlanstedt in 1994, the 24 meter deep well in the inner courtyard was uncovered again. In 2001 the Blume-Brümmer family acquired the castle and the castle garden. From 2002 onwards, the castle and park were dismantled and renovated, as well as structural safety measures.
