In 1366 he studied canon law at the University of Montpellier . Pope Urban V officially confirmed him as provost in 1364.

On September 3, 1367, he and Ludolf von Hartesrode (Hasserode) were taken prisoner when he accompanied Bishop Albrecht von Halberstadt on his campaign against Bishop Gerhard von Hildesheim . They were only released after a month's imprisonment in the Liebenburg .

As provost he was at the same time canon of Halberstadt, as such he first appeared in a document in 1363. He resigned from the office of provost in early 1375 at the latest to take over the provost office of St. Blasii in Braunschweig . In 1384 Count Albrecht appears as provost in Halberstadt.

Albrecht was unanimously elected Bishop of Halberstadt in 1411 and is described as a peace-loving, decidedly praiseworthy church prince. Under his government, the Diocese of Halberstadt u. a. For 600 Brunswick marks the castle Schlanstedt from the family von Spiegel.

He was buried in Halberstadt Cathedral in 1419 . His tombstone was preserved for many centuries.
