The Tenczyn Castle is a ruined castle from the 14th century when Polish village Rudno , about 24 kilometers east of Krakow in the Malopolska province .

The castle stands on rocks, the remains of Perm - lava flow are. The castle hill is 411 m above sea level, the highest point in the Garb Tenczyński , in the Kraków-Częstochowa Jura .

His son, Jędrzej or Andrzej, expanded the castle, took on the noble surname Tęczyński and made the castle the seat of the Tęczyński family . The castle, first mentioned in the time of Jędrzej's son, Jaśko, became the official seat of the estates, which included 45 villages, 15 of them in the vicinity. In 1570 it was rebuilt at great expense, but burned down by Swedes in 1655. After that, the castle was largely renovated, but only partially inhabited. In the middle of the 18th century it burned again and then gradually changed into a ruin.
