The place, the local knight family, and a priest from Morauich were first mentioned in 1238 in the book Vita Sancti Stanislai - Vita maior (biography of Stanislaus of Krakow ). The name is derived from the ancient Slavic * mor- ( water ) and denotes a wet place . The history of the village is very well documented and closely linked to the Tęczyński family , originally from Morawica, with the headquarters in Tenczyn Castle from the 14th century . Jan Długosz wrote about Morawica as an important place with an old castle and a church built of white stone ( lapide murata ) in 1408 . Owned by the Czartoryski family from the 17th century .

During the third partition of Poland , Morawica became part of the Habsburg Empire in 1795 . In the years 1815-1846 the village belonged to the Republic of Krakow , in 1846 it was annexed again as part of the Grand Duchy of Krakow to the countries of the Austrian Empire. From 1855, Morawica was part of the Kraków district .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Morawica became part of Poland . This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , where it belonged to the Krakow district in the Generalgouvernement .

From 1945 to 1998 Morawica was part of the Krakow Voivodeship.
