Karl Joseph's child friend

Karl Joseph Child Friend (* 1793 in Bohemia ; † April 8, 1869 in Vienna ) was an Austrian writer , composer and music teacher .

Life

Child friend was a student of Wenzel Johann Tomaschek in Prague and then worked there as a music teacher. On October 1, 1839, he opened his own “Music Institute” in Prague's Herrengasse, for which he was able to attract well-known teachers, including Robert Volkmann (“for higher vocals”), Ignaz Tedesko (piano) and Wilhelm Hopp (violin). In 1844 his music school was under the protectorate of Prince Ferdinand von Lobkowitz (1797–1868), where he is named here as an "honorary citizen of the city of Schluckenau ". He also worked as a correspondent for the Wiener Theaterzeitung published by Adolf Bäuerle .

Around 1858 he moved to Vienna himself and from October 1, 1859 he edited the magazine Oesterreichische Signals for theater, art, literature, music, social life, national economy, industry, especially history for entertainment and instruction .

In November 1868 the magazine ceased its publication, in the same year Kinderfreund was mentioned for the last time in the Vienna address book. He died shortly afterwards at the age of 73.
