Rudno is a village in southern Poland that belongs to the Krzeszowice municipality . It is located on the Rudno in Powiat Krakowski in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship .

geography

Rudno is located in the Kraków-Czestochowa Jura , southeast of Tenczyn Castle . The neighboring towns are Grojec in the south, Nieporaz in the west, Wola Filipowska in the north, Tenczynek in the northeast, and Zalas in the southeast.

history

The Bull of Gniezno mentioned Super Pregini Rudnici , which was associated with the names of the local river Przegini (after the 13th century Rudno ) as well as the Rudniki (the people who paid their dues with ore - Polish ruda ). A Slavic hill fort in Grojec , south of Rudno, could have existed in the 11th century . According to other theories, the village developed as a service settlement below Tenczyn Castle, which was probably not built until 1319, in the forest mentioned as Thanczin 1309. The name Rudno was first used for the river in 1282 ( circa fluvium Rudno ), for the village in 1379.

During the third partition of Poland in 1795, Rudno became part of the Habsburg Empire . In the years 1815-1846 the village belonged to the Republic of Krakow , in 1846 it was annexed again as part of the Grand Duchy of Krakow to the countries of the Austrian Empire. From 1855 Rudno belonged to the Chrzanów District .

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Rudno became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II . It then belonged to the Krakow district in the Generalgouvernement and bordered on Grojec in the Krenau district in the German Empire .

From 1975 to 1998 Rudno was part of the Kraków Voivodeship .
