Gustavsburg Castle Park
The Gustavsburg Castle Park is a newly built park for the former star fortress near the sports field in the Hessian city of Ginsheim-Gustavsburg . The Gustavsburg Castle Park is part of the Rhine-Main Regional Park .
The castle park was created as a souvenir of the Swedish fortress Gustavsburg, which was located in the same place from 1632 to 1635 .
Location and facilities
The Gustavsburg Castle Park is located in the Gustavsburg district of the Hessian city of Ginsheim-Gustavsburg . The castle park is bounded in the east by Erzbergerstrasse (L3040), in the northeast by Darmstädter Landstrasse (part of the B 43 ), in the northwest by the street Auf der Mainspitze and in the south by the tracks of the Mainbahn .
An old arm of the Main once flowed through the castle park, but today it has dried out and no longer has any water. A wooden bridge still leads over the oxbow lake and connects two parts of the park, which used to be separated by the oxbow lake and today by bushes and trees. On one side behind these bushes is a remnant of the former Swedish fortress. This corner has been converted into a small seating area with two benches.
Transport links
The Gustavsburg Castle Park benefits from the nearby Mainz-Gustavsburg train station on the Mainbahn, which has very good transport links. Here the S8 line of the Rhein-Main S-Bahn runs every 30 minutes on the Wiesbaden Hbf - Mainz Hbf - Rüsselsheim - Frankfurt Airport - Frankfurt Hbf (low) - Offenbach Ost (- Hanau Hbf ) route. During rush hour , individual trains of the regional train line RB 75 stop there on the Wiesbaden Hbf – Mainz Hbf - Groß Gerau - Darmstadt Hbf - Dieburg - Babenhausen (Hess) - Aschaffenburg Hbf route .
On the northeast side of the park is the Am Alten Fährhaus bus stop , where bus lines 54, 55 and 91 of the Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) stop and connect the park with Mainz city center and individual districts of Mainz.
